Mantashe appeals for investment into South Africa’s oil and gas potential

CAPE TOWN - Minister of Mineral Resources Gwede Mantashe has made a direct appeal for investment into South Africa's oil and gas potential.
He urged investors to look beyond the global shift towards renewables and recognise the untapped potential of South Africa's oil and gas reserves.

Mantashe was speaking at the 30th annual African Oil Week conference underway in Cape Town.
He also expressed strong confidence in the country's offshore oil and gas reserves, particularly in light of promising discoveries in neighbouring Namibia.
"So, investors, we are not saying to you, come to South Africa, it's not just a tourist destination, come and invest. We have got these deposits, and they are there waiting for investors to come and invest, make money, and help us develop the economy."
