CAPE TOWN - Eight police officers accused of being involved in business extortion in Cape Town are expected to appear at the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
The men in blue were nabbed in Milnerton for allegedly extorting money from two shops owned by Chinese nationals over the weekend.
Provincial police top brass said the officers made off with an undisclosed amount of money from the shops.
Seven members attached to the Public Order Policing were nabbed in Milnerton on Sunday for allegedly extorting businesses in the area for protection.
This led to the arrest of an eighth police officer in Harare on Monday, also attached to the Public Order Policing unit.
Western Cape police said that three civilians were also taken in for questioning.
They're believed to be a former policeman and two women.
