The deputy principal was gunned down at the Chris Hani Mall in Vosloorus on Tuesday while attending a meeting.
It’s believed the meeting related to a case involving a teacher from the same school, but the exact circumstances of the shooting remain unclear.
Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson Steve Mabona said the incident is deeply concerning.
"Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding this sad incident. The MEC [Matome Chiloane] has indicated that he’s heartbroken by this killing of our dedicated educator and a leader in the education community."
