TSHWANE - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Tshwane said it remains open to establishing an agreement with other political parties to return to the city’s top office.
Its regional leader, Cilliers Brink, was removed as mayor through an African National Congress (ANC)-sponsored motion of no confidence in September.
The Tshwane council is scheduled to elect the capital city’s seventh mayor since 2016 on Wednesday.
Speaking during a virtual engagement on Monday, Brink emphasised the need for an end to political instability.
"We are still open to finding the best solution for Tshwane, the best solution. There are four million people and there’s a lot of work to be done.
"We’ve lost two weeks, we’ve signalled uncertainty to the public, we’ve signalled instability. Let’s fix that and let’s make sure that this does not happen again until the people can vote in 2026."
