JOHANNESBURG - With less than a day left until the election of a new mayor in Tshwane, the Democratic Alliance (DA) said it is had not heard back from the African National Congress (ANC) regarding forming a new government in the metro.
The capital city is currently without an executive government following the removal of Cilliers Brink and his mayoral committee last month.
Brink, a DA councillor, was removed as mayor through an ANC-sponsored motion of no confidence.
Despite this, DA Tshwane spokesperson, Kwena Moloto, said that the party was still keen on forming a governing coalition with the ANC.
"We haven’t had any feedback from the ANC as of yet. We have from very early on wanted to explore a stability agreement which would not just include Tshwane but multiple municipalities across the country."
The DA said this stability agreement it had offered the ANC will extend to all hung municipalities across the country, which also includes metros like Ekurhuleni, eThekwini and Nelson Mandela Bay.
