Clarence Ford chats to Primedia Digital Content Editor Barbara Friedman about what's trending online.

YouTuber Jack Doherty recently filmed himself while crashing his $300 000 McLaren, leaving his friend injured.

Known for his 'dare devil' stunts, the creator has over 14 million YouTube followers.

The 20-year-old was live streaming on the social media platform 'Kick' and could be seen driving with one hand and glancing down at his phone as he drove at high speed in torrential rain before he lost control of the supercar.

His custom-built McLaren 570S skidded across the wet highway in Miami before careening into the metal roadside barrier, ripping off the bonnet and destroying the entire front half of the car.

Doherty escaped unscathed but his friend Michael David, who was sitting in the passenger seat, could be seen with blood streaming down his face and had to be taken to hospital.

But not before Jack handed him the camera and said: "Michael, here. Film on that phone too."

The incident has since gone viral.

Doherty also posted about the accident with a follow-up video of him and his friend in the hospital.

In the video posted to Instagram, Doherty's friend seems to be getting stitches around his face.

Doherty asks his friend, "How are you feeling?"

The friend responds: "Amazing."

Commentators are not amused by the YouTuber's choice to film while driving and to continue filming after the life-threatening moment.

Influencer Corinna Kopf took to X, formerly Twitter, to write: "Your friend's face is gushing blood but you make sure he stays filming from all angles…. nice."

Doherty has been banned from 'Kick' for violating the platform's safety regulations.

"Is this what 20-year-olds aspire to?" asks Friedman.
