CAPE TOWN - Two men arrested for kidnapping and extortion are expected to appear in the Stellenbosch Magistrates Court on Monday.
The suspects, in their early twenties, are implicated in the kidnapping of a 20-year-old woman in the Cape Winelands town, in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The kidnappers demanded a ransom from the hostage's family, which was paid immediately.
Police said the victim was released on Friday and taken for a medical examination.
In an unrelated incident, over the weekend the same Multi-Disciplinary Anti-Kidnapping Task Team traced and rescued an 84-year-old kidnapping victim in Robertson.
The British woman was found on Saturday, in an unoccupied shack in Zwelethemba in Worcester, and rushed to a medical facility.
The victim had been kidnapped the previous day.
Detectives are following up on various leads in a bid to apprehend those responsible.
