CAPE TOWN - The South African Zionist Federation (SAZF) said it’s advocating for peace between the people of Palestine and Israel.
The group, however, feels that the calls for Israel to be sanctioned by the South African government are unfair and undermine the country's social fabric.
The reaction comes as thousands of pro-Palestine supporters marched to Parliament on Saturday, appealing to government to cut all ties with Israel.
This followed the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine, which has claimed thousands of lives, including children.
"The October the 7th massacre represents the darkest day in Israel history since the holocaust, and South African Jews should be left to commemorate it in a dignified manner, without a march insulting the victims of the attack and making false claims about Israel,” said SAZF spokesperson Rolene Marks.
