Gauteng govt commits to building five schools of specialisation each year

JOHANNESBURG - The Gauteng government has committed to building five schools of specialisation each year to equip learners with vital skills for the digital age.
The province, which is already home to 35 of these schools, aims to prepare students for the demands of a tech-driven future by focusing on specialised skills that enhance their employability.

Addressing educators at the 24th National Teaching Awards at Birchwood Hotel in Kempton Park on Saturday, Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi reaffirmed this pledge, and called on the national government to support the initiative.
"To date, Mr President, we have 35 schools of specialisation in our province, and we intend to introduce a minimum of five annually until we have covered a substantial amount of number of schools of specialisation in the province"
Lesufi emphasised that the ongoing development of these institutions is crucial for ensuring that young people are ready to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
