CAPE TOWN - Supporters of Palestine and Lebanon will stage a march to Parliament on Saturday as they protest Israel's conflict with the two countries.
The mass march is titled "End Apartheid and Genocide" in Palestine and also calls for the boycott of Israel.
However, the march is not without its opponents, with the South African Zionist Federation (SAZF) condemning the planned gathering.
Saturday's march will be supported by organisations like the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), Equal Education, the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, and several other civic organisations.
Former Intelligence Minister Ronnie Kasrils will be part of the march and urged people to come out in support of Palestine and Lebanon, two countries at the receiving end of attacks from Israel.
"Rally in full force as we march to Parliament to raise our voices in support of our dear Palestinian and Lebanese brothers and sisters in their struggle for their very existence."
The SAZF, meanwhile, said the march was "predicated on baseless accusations of genocide against Israel”.
The organisation said that it not only "propagates dangerous falsehoods" but also trivialised genuine instances of genocide throughout history.
