JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) in Ekurhuleni wants to reconfigure the government to distribute positions in the mayoral committee proportionally.
The party is governing the city with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) with positions in the 10-seat executive occupied by candidates from both organisations.
After holding hands with the ANC in Joburg and Tshwane, it’s understood that ActionSA wants to do the same in Ekurhuleni.
ANC regional coordinator Jongizizwe Dlabathi said the party was unhappy with the current coalition government in the metro.
"There must be proportional allocation. So, this means how we allocate responsibilities within the leadership of the institution politically must be reflective of how political parties are represented. There must be no party that is over-represented in the coalition and that is where we are focusing on at this point in time," said Dlabathi.
