DURBAN - The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal has said that part of its renewal process is to focus on reviving its branches and this included attending to service delivery issues much faster.

Party leaders will on Saturday be hosting programmes in parts of the province with its structures.

On Friday, the party provincial chairperson, Siboniso Duma, addressed councillors in uMlazi, south of Durban which is also the largest contributor to the party’s biggest region, eThekwini.

Duma said that the ANC must first focus on building stronger branches.

"These branches must be stronger, reflecting the ANC, so we are starting afresh the process of emphasising in particular on understanding the ANC and who must join the ANC and how you join it," said Duma.

He added that the party also needed to produce activists who would deal with service concerns.

"The only solution that is going to be everlasting for the ANC, is to just go on the ground and build an activist branch that is going to resolve the matters of service delivery, you can’t wait for a councillor if there is a storm damage or a problem of broken pipes and potholes," said Duma.
