JOHANNESBURG - Zizi Kodwa's attorney, Zola Majavu, has stated that if the charges against his client are not withdrawn, he is fully prepared to take the matter to trial.

The former minister filed an application at the Palm Ridge Magistrates Court on Thursday, seeking to have the fraud and corruption charges against him dropped.

Kodwa is accused of accepting kickbacks from his co-accused, former EOH boss Jehan Mackay, between 2015 and 2016 in exchange for government tenders.

Speaking shortly after Kodwa’s appearance, Majavu said he was ready to prove Kodwa's innocence.

"In any event, I had indicated that with or without a decision on the submission that we have made, we remain ready. So, even if we were to wake up tomorrow and ignore those submissions, there will never be a postponement at the instance of Mr Kodwa."
