CAPE TOWN - The City of Cape Town's Department of Water and Sanitation is excited to be partnering with the Water Research Commission to provide eco-friendly, non-sewered toilets to five informal settlements in the city.
Mayco member for Water and Sanitation Zahid Badroodien said the project would roll out at two sites in Strandfontein, as well as in Macassar, Ocean View, and Khayelitsha.
Badroodien said the partnership was a significant stride in the city’s efforts to improve sanitation in informal settlements.
"I hope for the best so that if these pilots do work and they are successful, we will be able to then roll them out to other communities that may benefit from these types of technologies as well."
