CAPE TOWN - The South African Police Service (SAPS) flying squad has arrested two suspects for attempted murder and discharge of a firearm in Manenberg.
Members of the squad were at Manenberg police station on Tuesday, when they heard gunshots in the vicinity of Klipfontein and Duinefontein roads.
Western Cape police spokesperson Frederick van Wyk said the unit saw a taxi driving away from the scene.
"The members also noticed two people crossing the intersection towards the taxi. The two people were stopped and searched, and two legal firearms with 42 9mm rounds of ammunition were found in their possession."
Van Wyk said the pair were later identified as the suspects who shot a pedestrian in the leg.
"The two suspects, aged 30 and 40, were arrested and detained at Manenberg SAPS for attempted murder and discharging a firearm in a municipal area," van Wyk said.
He said the suspects will appear in court once they've been charged.
