The Lotteries Commission has been exposed over the years for deep-rooted corruption.
In 2022, the board was finally replaced and a new commissioner, Jodi Sholtz, was appointed in 2023.

Geffen says this board is trying very hard to fix the problems left behind by the previous board.
However, in a recent parliamentary meeting, MPs launched what appeared to be a ‘coordinated attack’ to remove the current lottery board and commission.
“There is a lot of money at stake in the lottery and the tap that was turned on, allowing people to steal left right and centre, has been turned off.”

Geffen says one of those at the centre of this attack is Tebogo Sithathu, who the SIU is investigating.
Others involved, he says, are ANC MP Mzwandile Masina and former ANC cabinet minister and portfolio committee member Malusi Gigaba.
“Between these three… they made the most outrageous accusations that make no sense.”
