JOHANNESBURG - Police said investigations are at an advanced stage following the questioning of a person of interest in the deadly Lusikisiki shooting.

Seventeen people were shot and killed, and another died in hospital following the massacre on Saturday.

Most of the victims who were killed at two houses were from the same family.

During his visit on Tuesday, Police Minister Senzo Mchunu said that officers know who they are looking for.

His spokesperson, Kamogelo Mokgotsi, said: "The national commissioner did indicate that a person of interest has been taken in for questioning. Investigations are underway to ascertain all details behind the shooting."
