CAPE TOWN - Several areas across the country continue to be gripped by a cold snap with snow still falling in some parts.
This follows a particularly wet winter season in the Westen Cape, with heavy rains resulting in severe flooding in a number of communities.
Agri Western Cape's Jannie Strydom said while inclement the weather in recent months has had an impact on farms, farmers are grateful for the rain.

"We are very thankful for the rain that we have received. The month of September is a very critical month for our grain farmers. So, we need some rain just for the final push to the pre-harvesting of our grains so we are very thankful for that and we also see that our major dams are at full capacity."
The cold weather has especially impacted fruit farmers, said Strydom.
"The trees are now starting to get into production and the main issue is possible frost damage. So farmers do as much as they can to prevent that damage by irrigating and so forth, and then also we had some light hail over the weekend and that was a great concern for me personally because we know that our early stone fruit trees are now into quite serious production, and we could have encountered serious damages there."
