CAPE TOWN - The Western Cape Education Crisis Committee is once again taking its protest to the doorstep of the provincial education department on Monday.
The movement consisting of teachers, unions and civil society organisations is unhappy about budget cuts affecting the education sector.
Last month, Education MEC David Maynier announced that more than 2,400 teacher jobs will be cut from January next year due to a budget shortfall of R3.8 billion over the next three financial years.

The protest is the second this month, following a picket two weeks ago.
The committee's Simone Cupido said the demonstrations are to ramp up efforts to prevent the job cuts.
"We are trying to build awareness around this matter of budget cuts, but also we are trying to stop the process of education being defunded in the Western Cape through multiple decisions being made around the budget. It is just one of many protests we will stage until we are properly engaged and some changes are made," said Cupido.
