JHB mall shooting: Panic and pandemonium after gunmen enter jewellery store

JOHANNESBURG - Police are combing the scene at Nicolway Mall in Bryanston following a shooting on Monday afternoon.
It’s understood that a gang of armed men stormed the first level of the mall and entered a jewellery store before firing several shots into the roof of the mall.
The incident happened shortly after 2pm and it remains unclear whether the suspects took any valuables when they left.
Radio 702’s Thabo Shole-Mashao was at Nicolway Mall at the time of the ordeal.
Describing the dramatic scene, he said: “A couple of men just came running down the corridors at the lower level of Nicolway in Bryanston. We just started hearing gunshots going off and everyone was running amok. People started hiding in different shops, myself included. But it was panic and pandemonium that a shooting just started going off in the middle of the day at Nicolway in Bryanston.”
