JOHANNESBURG - Members of the Gauteng Legislature are calling for stability in Tshwane as political parties negotiate to form a new government in the metro.
Last week, the Tshwane council voted to remove the Democratic-led (DA) coalition which had been governing the capital since 2021.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), African National Congress (ANC) and ActionSA blamed ousted mayor, Cilliers Brink, for leading a government that failed to deliver services.

Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance committee spokesperson, Pfano Busaligobo, said that service delivery should not suffer during this transitional period.
"The portfolio committee urges the Department of CoGTA to take immediate steps to ensure that the upcoming mayoral election is conducted within the 14-day legal timeframe and that all necessary measures are in place to maintain municipal operations without disruption. The department must play a proactive role in supporting the city’s governance structures during this period of change," said Busaligobo.
