JOHANNESBURG - Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille says the uniqueness of the Northern Cape should get travellers and tourists visiting the province.
This comes as we observe World Tourism Day on Friday.
This day is commemorated annually, as declared by the United Nations to bring awareness to the significant milestones achieved by tourism departments globally.
De Lille said the province should be celebrated
"There are a lot of hidden gems in our country, and we need to also share the benefit of tourists across nine provinces in the country. We can't have tourists flying into Cape Town and flying to Sekhukhuza for a safari and miss the whole of the country."
De Lille said Astro tourism would showcase all that South Africa has to offer.
She was speaking at a cocktail event, hosted by the MEC of Tourism in the Northern Cape Venus Blennies.
As the world commemorates World Tourism Day on Friday, de Lille added the province was deliberately chosen to host this year’s event to give exposure to its hidden gems.
