Tshwane ANC confident it has residents' backing as it looks to remove DA-led coalition
An ANC-sponsored motion of no confidence against Mayor Cilliers Brink will be put to a vote on Thursday.

JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) in Tshwane is confident it has the backing of residents as it looks to remove the Democratic Alliance (DA)-led coalition in the capital city.
An ANC-sponsored motion of no confidence against Mayor Cilliers Brink will be put to a vote on Thursday.

The ANC has already garnered enough majority support for the motion to pass, with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and ActionSA caucuses saying they will vote to remove Brink.
ANC Tshwane secretary, George Matjila, said that this move was in the interest of the people of the city.
"It has the backing of the people. If you check our WhatsApp groups, our communication portals, everywhere the people have been saying for the longest period of time: 'We have been experiencing challenges. If, somehow, you are able to come back, we wish that you could consider that.'"

Herman Mashaba, ActionSA President, said his party’s engagements with ANC have only been to discuss what the removal of Mayor Cilliers Brink & his committee.
