The ANC has already garnered enough majority support for the motion to pass, with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and ActionSA caucuses saying they will vote to remove Brink.

ANC Tshwane secretary, George Matjila, said that this move was in the interest of the people of the city.

"It has the backing of the people. If you check our WhatsApp groups, our communication portals, everywhere the people have been saying for the longest period of time: 'We have been experiencing challenges. If, somehow, you are able to come back, we wish that you could consider that.'"
