JOHANNESBURG - A motion of no confidence vote in Tshwane Mayor Cilliers Brink is set to take place on Thursday.
The motion was brought by the African National Congress (ANC) in the region, who said Brink's 18 months in charge of the capital city has been disastrous.
However, Brink has denied this, saying the multiparty coalition government has made steady progress under his leadership.

After 18 months in charge of the capital city, Brink is set to face his first motion of no confidence vote.
The ANC has previously filed two such motions against him, but both were withdrawn before they could be voted on.
However, this time, Brink’s chances of survival have been dealt a major blow, as ActionSA recently pulled out of the Democratic Alliance (DA)-led multiparty coalition that’s been governing Tshwane since 2021.
Without ActionSA’s 19 councillors, the coalition no longer has a majority in council.
Ahead of the vote on Thursday, the DA is set to stage a picket outside the council chambers to protest the removal of Brink and his mayoral committee.
