Ahead of World Tourism Day, Tourism Dept shines spotlight on the Northern Cape

KIMBERLEY - In anticipation of World Tourism Day on Friday, popular tourist spots across the country are preparing to showcase their unique offerings.
The United Nations declared day is observed every year on 27 September.
The aim is to showcase the significant milestones achieved by tourism departments globally.
The Northern Cape is home to many hidden treasures that have charmed the hearts of tourists and residents alike.
In light of World Tourism Day celebrations, the National Tourism Department will put its spotlight on the province's rich cultural tapestry.
Speaking to Eyewitness News ahead of festivities, a lodge owner in Kimberley said September had been the busiest month this year.
“This month has been fully booked. We have 34 full rooms, but we can take 74 people if we are fully booked.”
And if you’re not sure what this province has to offer, she has a solution: “The main event for when people come to Kimberley is the Big Hole, otherwise you can go to the museum and there's also Magersfontein Museum which is further down.”
There are also numerous heritage sites and museums to visit - which offer insights into this province's vibrant history.
