ANC convenes urgent meeting to discuss City of Tshwane developments

JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) has convened an urgent meeting to discuss the latest developments in the Tshwane municipality.
On Wednesday, ANC leaders from Gauteng and Tshwane are set to meet with the party’s national leadership this afternoon in Luthuli House.
The meeting is expected to finalise whether the ANC will go ahead and vote to remove the Democratic Alliance (DA)-led coalition in Tshwane on Thursday.

A few weeks ago, ANC leaders in Tshwane and Gauteng made a presentation before the party’s national working committee.
The presentation laid out why they wanted to remove the DA-led coalition in Tshwane and their plans for the capital city afterwards.
ANC’s Tshwane secretary, George Matjila, said that they were yet to receive the green light from national.
“We are resolving today at 3 pm, there is a meeting today at 3. The province is Panyaza (Lesufi, ANC Gauteng chairperson) and TK (Thembinkosi Nciza, ANC Gauteng secretary). The region is myself and the chairperson (Eugene Modise).”
Following ActionSA’s withdrawal from the governing coalition in Tshwane, the DA has been lobbying the ANC’s national leadership for protection.
Eyewitness News understands there is a split within the ANC national leadership over the benefit of taking over Tshwane, considering the capital city’s dire finances.
