36% tariff hike: ‘Eskom’s punishing the poor for its own failures’
Residents of Lavender Hill embarked on a protest against the steep tariff costs Eskom is requesting.

Eskom is seeking exorbitant tariff increases up to 2028, including an increase of 36.15% starting next year April.
Members of the Lavender Hill community in Cape Town took to the streets on Saturday in protest.

Nissen says these increases will place an unreasonable burden on the poorest of the poor to recoup Eskom’s debts.
He says Eskom is punishing the poor for their own bad management.
