SANParks urges hikers to be in groups, obey safety instructions after tourist death

CAPE TOWN - South African National Parks (SANParks) is urging hikers to hike in groups and obey safety instructions after an American tourist was found dead on Devil's Peak.
The deceased decided to hike alone on Sunday.
A City of Cape Town piloted aircraft discovered the 20-year-old's body on the slopes of the mountain on Sunday.
Police spokesperson Malcolm Poje said detectives are investigating what caused Brook Cheuvront's death.
"An inquest docket was opened for further investigation. An autopsy will be conducted on the body to determine the possible cause of death."
Meanwhile, SANParks spokesperson JP Louw said signs all over Table Mountain National Park point visitors to safety guidelines.
"Please do activities in groups. We recommend that you do that in a group of four or more. You must carefully choose the route that you want to travel on and try to stick to it. Ensure that you start on time."
Louw said it's vital that hikers also inform someone of the route they choose and the estimated time to hike on the trail.
