CAPE TOWN - An international Jazz festival is headed for the iconic dunes of the Namib desert.

The line-up of the inaugural Namib Desert International Jazz Festival was announced on Monday.

It includes the likes of Jonathan Butler, Peter White and saxophonist Elan Trotman.

The two-day event is scheduled for 18 and 19 March next year.

It will all play across three stages, set in the heart of the UNESCO heritage-protected dunes of the oldest desert in the world.

Legendary jazz artist Peter White said the significance of the unique setting isn't lost on him.

"Let's make sure to preserve these sacred spaces for future generations and let's celebrate diversity. Prepare to be moved and inspired," said White.

Jazz lovers will be treated to an array of international acts including Jimmy Dludlu, Jim Porto from Brazil and Elan Trotman in Tribute to Marvin Gaye.

The magical two-day event kicks off in March 2025.
