240 lifeguards deployed to 29 CT beaches for school holidays

CAPE TOWN - Two hundred and forty new lifeguard recruits will be stationed across the Mother City's 29 beaches, to keep beachgoers safe over the school holidays.
The metro has urged Cape Town residents and holidaymakers to listen to the officials deployed across its recreational facilities.
Community Services and Health MMC Patricia van der Ross is appealing to parents to monitor the movements of their children around the water.
Van der Ross said that beachgoers must avoid swimming while under the influence of alcohol.
"While the weather is still in flux as the seasons change, people do start venturing to the beach this time of year, hence the lifeguard deployment. I want to appeal to not only our locals, but visitors too, to only swim where lifeguards are on duty, and only in designated bathing areas. Our lifeguards are dedicated professionals who play a crucial role."
