Late legendary writer and anti-apartheid activist James Matthews praised for his immense contribution

CAPE TOWN - African National Congress Veteran, and the NEC member, Pallo Jordaan said that the late legendary writer and anti-apartheid Activist, James Matthews contributed immensely to the country's culture and literature.
Matthews is being laid to rest today at his home in Silvertown on Saturday.
He died three weeks ago at the age of 95 years.
Among those who paid respect, is the former trade unionist, Ebrahim Patel who served as the Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition from 2019 to 2024.
Speaking at funeral service of the late celebrated Poet in St George's Cathedral on Saturday, Jordaan said Matthews was a rare breed.
"Given his background, there are few people who achieved and attained what he was able to attain during his lifetime. To become a well-known writer, a well-known poet, celebrated not only in his own country but internationally as well," said Jordaan
