CAPE TOWN - Anti-Gang Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances around the murder of a 42-year-old man in Beacon Valley, Mitchells Plain.

The victim's body was found in front of a house in Ascot Street on Thursday night.

It's believed the deceased is one of those accused of being involved in a R1 billion tender fraud case involving the city's Human Settlements directorate.

The police's Malcolm Pojie said, "Preliminary reports suggest that unknown gunmen opened fire on the victim, who was declared deceased by medical personnel who attended to the scene. The motive for this murder is now the subject of an investigation by the South African Police Service."
