CAPE TOWN - Four years after the murder of top cop Charl Kinnear, his wife, Nicolette Kinnear, is still seeking answers.
Kinnear was shot dead outside his Bishop Lavis home four years ago on 18 September 2020.
Nicolette said even though a trial against those who allegedly plotted her husband's murder is underway, the police also need to be held accountable.
She said high-ranking police officers knew her husband was under threat but still removed the security detail meant to protect him.

"It was the Hawks who knew, warrant officer and a general who knew. So, they allowed Zane Kilian to continue with his pinging, sat back and watched a crime being committed."
Nicolette recounted the day Kinnear was murdered, saying she received a phone call from her eldest son, telling her, "Pops has been shot”.
"When I got to my house, he was still behind the wheel. My kids had the privilege of still praying with their dad, kneeling down at the car and praying with him. I never got to see my husband or say goodbye because by the time I reached home, he had passed on already."
Nicolette said Kinnear remained committed to his investigations even after his protection was removed.
