Springboks vs Spain at DHL Stadium on Thursday: Tickets are R35 - let's show up!

Lester Kiewit speaks to Springboks Eloise Webb and Lindelwa Gwala.

The Springbok Women’s Rugby Team (@womenboks) will face Spain’s Las Leonas in a test match at DHL Cape Town Stadium on Thursday, 19 September at 5 pm.

For both teams, it will be their final match before the three WXV tournaments.

The Women Boks impressively outplayed the Barbarians last Saturday and will be looking to build on that performance as they have their sights set firmly on WXV 2, which kicks off on the last weekend of the month.

Tickets for the test against Las Leonas are selling for R35 per person, R50 for two or R100 for four tickets, while kids under 18 can enter for only R10. Buy them here.

The women's Springboks' performance is improving as the team bags wins despite less cheer from Mzansi compared to the male Springboks.

"If we can just get better at promoting women's rugby in South Africa... if we can market women's rugby a little bit better that would be great for the team, then we know South Africa is backing us."
- Eloise Webb, Springbok

Gwala explains why she thinks support for women's rugby in South Africa 'has not been great'.

"We have to consider the timeline of how long the women's rugby team has been back... there was a time when the South African women's rugby side just wasn't there but we've been building and now coming back. We've made a lot of noise, playing international games and people can see that there's a lot of potential and with more time, we are going to be legendary and have legends in the team."
- Lindelwa Gwala, Springbok

Webb and Gwala say Mzansi has a part to play in the growth of the Springboks Women's Rugby Team and it starts with SUPPORT.

"We are working really really hard as a team, so we ask South Africa to understand that they also have a part to play in the growth of women's rugby and women's sport in general and we need the support to keep growing, so please show up in numbers."
- Lindelwa Gwala, Springbok
