Blood Legacy is ready to bring proudly South African stories to Netflix.

Follow the story of a KwaZulu-Natal family fighting to keep their legacy alive.

Tshabalala says the talent and storyline will have audiences hooked from the very beginning.

“We are actually telling our stories in our own voices… We always tell stories mimicking other people, and now this is us. It is not only the poverty of South Africa or the corruption only, it is all of us... it gives you the beauty and vastness of being South African.”

She adds that it is phenomenal that Netflix is bringing South African stories to global audiences.

“It is the privilege of my life. When you’re doing film or theatre you always think it's only in this corner of the world and now it’s everywhere… and we are grateful for Netflix for this.”

Blood Legacy premieres on Netflix on 20 September.
