He stands accused, alongside his accomplice, disgraced doctor Nandipha Magudumana, of staging an escape at the Mangaung Correctional facility in 2020, where he was serving a life sentence.
Recently, Bester told the Bloemfontein High Court that he has been prejudiced and unable to prepare his defence while being kept at the c-max section at the Kgosi Mampuru prison.
He argued on Tuesday morning that he should be allowed access to his laptop, like other prisoners who are studying.
“I am also in a position where I am dis-privileged because I have two visits a month, 30 minutes a visit each month, and I am also limited to legal resources because every legal counsel that has to see me must make a booking based on availability that would be granted, meaning that if I have to submit or access any information, my resource of accessing information is limited.”
