Teen accused of murdering 91-year-old woman set to appear in Eastern Cape court

CAPE TOWN - An 18-year-old accused of murdering a pensioner is expected to appear before the Bityi Magistrates Court in Mthatha on Monday.
The teenager allegedly strangled the 91-year-old woman to death on Friday, before attacking her daughter.
The 41-year-old daughter managed to escape and warn her neighbours, who reportedly helped apprehend the young man.
Provincial police spokesperson Welile Matyolo said the 18-year-old has been charged with murder and attempted murder.
"Information on police records indicate that on Friday the 13th of September, around two-clock in the morning, the male suspect attacked the elderly woman while she was asleep in her bedroom, the 18-year-old suspect was arrested."
