JOHANNESBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) has accused ActionSA of jeopardizing the future of Tshwane after Herman Mashaba's party pulled out of the governing coalition.
Since the 2021 local government elections, the DA, ActionSA and three other parties have been governing the capital city through a coalition.
However, ActionSA has recently announced its decision to pull out of the coalition, citing a lack of service delivery in townships and a difficult relationship with the DA, among its reasons.
DA national spokesperson, Willie Aucamp, said that ActionSA could not insulate itself from the failures of the coalition, since it was a big part of it.
"The DA is committed to preserving the progress made in Tshwane under Mayor Cilliers Brink and will fight against Mashaba’s dangerous plans for the city. The residents of Tshwane deserve far better than political games at the expense of good governance."
ActionSA's exit from the coalition comes a week before council votes on an African National Congress (ANC)-sponsored motion of no confidence against Brink.
