JOHANNESBURG - South African filmmaker Anant Singh said that former minister Pravin Gordhan’s life and legacy should be celebrated by emulating some of his qualities.

Gordhan died in hospital in the early hours of Friday morning, after a battle with cancer.

He was 75.

He’s being remembered for his contribution to the public service in several portfolios as a minister and his life as an activist.

Singh remembered his friend as a man of integrity, whose commitment to the nation was unwavering.

He recalled Gordhan’s fight against state capture and his dedication to creating a better life for all South Africans.

Singh, who was part of creating a video of tributes for the former minister, which was aired at his retirement party earlier this year, said Gordhan’s commitment to serving the country had been an inspiration for those who knew him.
