JOHANNESBURG - Former Deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas said that the late Pravin Gordhan devoted some of his final years to rallying society against former President Jacob Zuma and the claws of state capture.
Jonas was speaking at a media briefing in Johannesburg on Friday, where the former Public Enterprise Minister’s loved ones reflected on his three decades in public service.
He said that Gordhan was visibly unsettled by the freedom given to the controversial Gupta family to loot the public purse and dismantle SOEs.
"There was a time when things were difficult in this country. There was a time where it was very clear and visible to anyone that the credibility and integrity of the ANC was completely undermined and we took a very hard decision at the time, again led by PG, to mobilise society against state capture."
