CAPE TOWN - President Cyril Ramaphosa said he’s saddened by the illness and condition of his long-time friend, Pravin Gordhan.
His family announced on Tuesday that the former public enterprises and finance minister has been hospitalised for an undisclosed illness.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament earlier on Thursday evening, Ramaphosa said he had spoken to both Gordhan and his family.
“I’ve had a very good and close relationship with Pravin Gordhan. He’s a comrade and a friend, and so the situation he’s in now is of great concern to all of us, but I continue to wish his family a great deal of strength.”
The 75-year-old Gordhan retired from active politics after the May polls, after serving in government for three decades.
