Mbalula urges South Africans not to distribute fake news around Gordhan’s health

JOHANNESBURG - African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Fikile Mbalula has urged South Africans not to distribute fake news around the health of former minister Pravin Gordhan.
Speaking at a media briefing at the ANC’s Luthuli House headquarters on Thursday, Mbalula said Gordhan is in a critical condition in hospital.

The anti-apartheid activist’s family announced his hospitalisation earlier this week, where he is receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
Mbalula urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information regarding Gordhan’s health.
“This insensitive and harmful action causes unnecessary pain and distress to families during already difficult times. It is only the family of comrade Pravin Gordhan that has got the authority to make such pronouncements.”
