JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has convened a meeting with all political parties in the Government of National Unity (GNU) to review its performance in office.

Presidency Spokesperson Vincent Magwenya confirmed in a media briefing on Wednesday that signatories to the GNU will gather in the evening.

Magwenya said that the leaders of the various GNU parties will have the opportunity to present their assessments of its progress and functioning.

The GNU comprises of ten political parties, some of which have opposing policies and ideological beliefs.

Parties within the GNU have expressed varying opinions on several pieces of legislation, including the National Health Insurance and, more recently, the Bela Bill.

Magwenya said that during the meeting parties will have the opportunity to raise their grievances.

"The purpose of this dinner is to discuss in detail the formulation of a dispute resolution mechanism. It's an opportunity for all party leaders to provide their own assessment and give feedback to the president."

The GNU has been in office for nearly three months and Magwenya insists that the president is satisfied with its performance.
