Tshwane ANC can only pull plug on no-confidence motion in Brink if national leadership suggests so
On Monday, ANC regional leaders made a presentation before the party’s national working committee (NWC) to detail why they want to remove the Democratic Alliance (DA)-led coalition in the capital city.

JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) in Tshwane said it would pull the plug on its motion of no confidence in Mayor Cilliers Brink should its national leadership send a directive.
On Monday, ANC regional leaders made a presentation before the party’s national working committee (NWC) to detail why they want to remove the Democratic Alliance (DA)-led coalition in the capital city.
Feedback from the committee is expected over the next couple of days.
After being political foes for many years, the ANC and the DA formed coalitions at national and KwaZulu-Natal governments.

This led to open communication lines between the two organisations.
Senior leaders from both parties have also met recently to discuss a stability agreement. This would see them no longer submitting motions of no confidence against each other in the municipalities they govern.
ANC Tshwane Secretary George Matjila said they made the case to the NWC on the need for a change of governance in the capital city.
“Whether we should remove Brink or we should work with him. Remember, ANC is a unitary organisation, not a federal one, so we will go with what they say.”
The ANC’s motion of no confidence in Brink is set down for a vote on 26 September.
