LISTEN: Eben 'Elizabedi' Etzebeth on being a Bok, father and 2nd-most capped player

Kfm Mornings catches up with Springboks legend Eben Etzebeth.

Eben - you know who we're talking about because this Springbok is a legend.

The number 4 South African lock is in Langebaan with his family before training for the rest of the season commences on Wednesday (11 September).

The Bok is also eight months into fatherhood and says, "It's the best thing that can happen to anyone."

Eben hopes that his little one sees nothing but love when he looks at Papa Eben.

"It's unreal and unbelievable to be a father... to see that little one, nothing can make you prouder and there's nothing more important in life than to have a family that supports you; it's just amazing."
- Eben Etzebeth

Eben is the second-most capped South African international rugby player (126!) and is on track to the top spot. But he's not thinking about it until it happens, because 'anything can happen in rugby'.

"Things in rugby can happen so quickly and anything can happen on the field at anytime and then you can never play again, so you never really count your chickens before they hatch. So, I just want to get through to the next game and through to squad selections before celebrating all the wins."
- Eben Etzebeth

For Eben, it's not about the accolades, it's about what it feels like to put on that green and gold jersey.

"I think that's what makes us a special team; we just want to play every weekend for the Boks... We just want to put on that jersey! It's about doing it one more time, all the time for the Boks... because it's so special, so every weekend is great when I put on the green and gold."
- Eben Etzebeth

Eben says our rugby team is special; they put their bodies on the line for each other.

"You've got guys with you because you're surrounded by champs in your team and guys who are willing to put their bodies on the line for you... so we don't go into games scared of specific individuals or teams... we're well-prepared and we know how much work we put in."
