'Hey, you guys!' A sequel to 'The Goonies' is coming
'The Goonies' reboot has been talked about for a long time, but it’s finally been given the go-ahead to move forward.
A sequel to The Goonies is in the works, with some of the original stars likely to return almost 40 years after the legendary film's release.
The cult adventure movie was released in 1985, directed by Richard Donner and produced by Steven Spielberg, and follows a group of kids in Oregon who try to save their homes from foreclosure and follow a treasure map to a long-lost fortune.
The film was notable for starring the likes of Lord of the Rings‘ Sean Astin, Marvel‘s Josh Brolin, Oscar-winner Ke Huy Quan and Corey Feldman in early roles.
The film has become a classic hallmark of 80s cinema, known for its mix of action, humour, and heart.
Plans are in place to discuss sequel ideas next summer, with a 2026 or 2027 release date.
