Nafiz Modack trial: High-ranking police officer set to continue testimony
General Andre Lincoln told the court that two of Modack's 14 co-accused tried to become informants for the police's anti-gang unit but had their own agenda.
CAPE TOWN - A high-ranking police officer is set to continue his testimony in the trial against alleged underworld gang boss Nafiz Modack in the Western Cape High Court.
General Andre Lincoln told the court that two of Modack's 14 co-accused tried to become informants for the police's anti-gang unit but had their own agenda.
Yannick Adonis and Amaal Jantjies are accused of plotting to kill top cop Charl Kinnear on behalf of Modack before he was murdered in 2020.
Last week, Lincoln testified that Adonis and Jantjies gave the anti-gang unit information in the hope it would secure Adonis bail in 2019.
Lincoln said Adonis, who was facing charges of murder and attempted murder, pointed police to abandoned firearms and drugs, which were of no value to the unit.
He said it became clear that the pair had an agenda when Adonis became angry after being told he would not get bail.
Lincoln is expected to shed light on the couple's alleged corrupt relationship with another co-accused, former anti-gang unit member Ashley Tabisher, when he continues his testimony on Monday.
