Chiloane expresses deep sadness following the death of Sandile ‘Mapaputsi’ Ngwenya
The Kwaito star, who rose to fame in 2001 with his hit single ‘Izinja’, died on Friday in hospital at the age of 45.

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng MEC for Arts and Culture Matome Chiloane has expressed his deep sadness following the death of well-known kwaito star, Sandile "Mapaputsi" Ngwenya.
Mapaputsi died on Friday in hospital at the age of 45.
The kwaito star rose to fame in 2001 with his hit single "Izinja".
It's understood that Mapaputsi had been ill for more than a year.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mapaputsi. His influence on the sound of Kwaito was unique,” said department spokesperson, Nomazwe Ntlokwa.
“With his natural ability and swag, he took kwaito to a new level of appreciation by many fans of music, infusing pantsula, pop, and hip-hop into one. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and the members of the creative industries sector.”
