JOHANNESBURG - With a planned R2 billion local investment in northern KwaZulu-Natal, Collins Residential and global hospitality company Club Med are teaming up to create South Africa's first all-inclusive resort.

Future guests can look forward upscale lodging with all the amenities provided, including gourmet meals, an open bar, a variety of on-and off-shore activities, and kid-focused groups.

As it approaches its planned opening in July 2026, construction is well underway, and anticipation is growing.

Club Med South Africa's MD, Olivier Perillat-Piratoine, said construction was on track for the opening of the plush resort.

"I am happy to share that construction is well on track for the opening in July 2026. We are excited to engage with our clients and onboard the market on this amazing endeavor."

At the height of construction, over 1,200 people are anticipated to be employed. The majority of the labour employed to work on the resort's construction was provided by three local wards and the traditional council within a 5-kilometer radius of the project.

The resort will also see the opening of Club Med's first-ever surf school.
