JOHANNESBURG - The Police Ministry and the Hawks have welcomed the sentencing of former PRASA head of engineering, Daniel Mthimkhulu, for fraud.
Mthimkhulu was handed a 15-year jail term for fraud and faking his qualifications when he was employed at the parastatal between 2010 and 2015.
He claimed to have had several mechanical engineering qualifications, including a degree from Wits University as well as a doctorate from a German university.
Hawks head, Godfrey Lebeya, said that this case should serve as a deterrent to other would-be fraudsters.
"There are indeed also other people in other environments who continue to do this, and we will also be catching up with them. It doesn't matter how long it takes but you will regret when it comes for you to account."
